Robert Rotella is a Fund Manager, trading markets globally. He is also an avid photographer who spends part of his time photographing around the world.

Robert Rotella was born in Niagara Falls, NY. He graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an M.B.A. in Finance. He has always been interested in the markets and photography, pursuing his interests on the side, then eventually venturing out on his own in 1985. His trading went well, but he was severely undercapitalized and after breaking even in 1989 he was broke and without means of support. Fortunately, during this difficult period he was contracted by a large trading organization that finally responded to a letter he sent, detailing his trading results 2 years earlier . They interviewed him at his apartment and allocated a small sum of money for him to trade in 1990.

By 1994 he was successfully trading more money with the firm. The interview in his apartment completely changed his life, but a lingering question remained-why did the interviewers decide to approve his funding? He asked them this question. Neither interviewer had any idea how desperate Robert's financial and personal circumstances were or remembered much about the meeting with one exception. One of the interviewers recalled seeing a series of Robert's photographs on the wall and thought- anyone who could take such good pictures deserved a chance. Robert has not forgotten the influence photography had in helping his career or the important role it continues to play by stimulating his creativity and providing a balance to the tumultuous world of trading.
